Fluffy Roll-Ups / Kifla
These super soft, fluffy rolls are easy to make and very versatile. Use your favorite jam, jelly or Nutella and enjoy them as a snack or for breakfast.
Yield: 16 Roll-Ups
Ingredients:
1 cup warm milk
2 1/4 teaspoon active dry yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 egg, whisked
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) unsalted butter, softened
Directions:
In a large bowl, mix together the warm milk, yeast and 1 tablespoon of sugar and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Add in the flour, egg, sugar and salt and mix until combined with a dough hook attachment. Once combined, add in the butter and knead on low speed for 10 minutes. It will take some time for the butter to knead into your dough. Scrape down the sides as needed.
Place your dough into an oiled bowl and let it rest in a warm place to rise; about one hour.
Once the dough has risen, add your dough onto a lightly floured surface and roll out into a circular shape (about 1/4 inch thick). Using a knife or pizza cutter, cut out about 16 wedges.
Take each piece, press it down a bit to create more surface area for your filling, and fill it with any desired filling. I made this batch with half raspberry jam filled and the other half Nutella filled.
Starting at the wide side of the triangle, roll each triangle to form a small crescent shape.
Add to a prepared baking dish and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Brush the roll-ups with egg wash and bake for 25-30 minutes.
